Congregation of Good Ideas
By Julia Guzzio
A corner of the room with portraits aligned next to each other with no spaces between to create a stifling effect when standing in the corner. On floor of the corner is a bowl with a mirror in it. The viewer is allowed walk up and peer into the bowl and see their refection.
I chose to the space of a corner because it is where walls meet and can make a room just like an idea can create a solid train of thought. Also good ideas are usually discussed in a clandestine place such as a place of worship or a small gathering of like-minded individuals.
There are many portraits on the wall in the corner because I wanted the viewer to feeling of being imposed upon. When a new good idea is shared the ones sharing the news are not docile in their approach. A feeling of assertive power is what should also be observed.
The small bowl is physical representation of the mind. The mirror inside the bowl is a physical representation of how the good idea is a reflection of the ego of the person who thought of the good idea. When the viewer peers into the bowl and sees himself or she in the mirror is when they will most likely have a strong opinion of the Congregation of new ideas because we all have strong opinions of our selves.
